Knox Residence and Graduate House are looking for student leaders to become part of our Service Desk Assistant Team! Supervised by the Service Coordinator, and reporting to the Assistant Dean, Residence Life and Communication, the Service Desk Assistants (SDAs) at Graduate House and Knox Residence are front line employees who support and assist residents with a variety of services. Please note that this is an on-site opportunity and SDAs are expected to be available to work a combination of day, evening, and weekend shifts.

The Graduate House Council (GHC) is a student council elected by the residents of Graduate House. The mission of this nine-member body is to develop a sense of community at Graduate House. It focuses on promoting a fun and social environment, supporting all academic lifestyles, fostering learning and advocating and protecting resident interests. As stipulated by the Occupancy Agreement, Graduate House collects a non-refundable levy from each resident that is put toward social and cultural events.
There is a similarity between the GHC and the Residence Advisors as both groups organize programming for residents. The main difference between the GHC and the Residence Advisors is their scope and role. The Residence Advisors are a resource for the building, their respective floors, and individual residents and/or suites. Issues regarding safety and building-wide policies are within the role of Residence Advisors.
The GHC is a volunteer social organization that does not represent Graduate House Residence staff. In contrast, the Residence Advisors are a paid student staff members of Graduate House Residence. The Residence Advisors, both as a group and individually, are encouraged to consider social event ideas proposed by the GHC; as such collaboration can bring to realization many successful large- and small-scale events.
Current residents who wish to remain in Graduate House will still have an opportunity to gain priority in re-entry, but they will have to earn this priority through achieving the Graduate House Community Participant Status (GCPS). Current residents who do not achieve this status but wish to reside in Graduate House for subsequent academic years will have to re-apply through the general applicant pool.
The GCPS is designed to foster a culture of participation, inclusion and community in Graduate House. This status will help support efforts to shape the reputation of Graduate House as a warm, welcoming environment and communicate to the University of Toronto and general public that residents can expect to have a strong sense of community while residing at Graduate House.

The Graduate House Residence Advisory Committee (GHRAC) provides students with a forum to voice opinions and ideas to the department of Graduate House at the University of Toronto and serves to facilitate bi-directional communication between students and residence staff.
